You’ll be a legal guardian of a contrarian team who are driven by facts and sciences, who are confident about their discoveries after rigorous research while at the same time feel exciting if they can be proved wrong.Your Role
- Provide legal advice on all legal and regulatory aspects related to offering and distribution of financial products and services to institutional and professional clients in EMEA, United States, Asia, and UAE. This includes in particular advice with regard to all kind of portfolio management and execution activities as well as related services and products, distribution of investment instruments as well as sales related topics.
- Structure and set up hedge funds amp; investment structures in multiple jurisdictions taking into account legal, tax and regulatory requirements of the clients and the investors (e.g. hedge fund licensing requirements, investor eligibility requirements, due diligence reporting)
- Provide legal advice with respect to local and regional/global regulatory projects (e.g. FMIA, FinSA, FinIA, EMIR, GDPR/DPA, etc.)
- Maintain strong support within funds’ set-up procedures and life-cycle management
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the area of hedge funds
- Draft and review of and advise on a variety of documents (including fund prospectuses, investment management agreements, administration agreements, distribution agreements, etc.)
- Facilitate and implement measures in the funds’ risk mitigation process
- Advise management team on strategic legal questions, elaborating on options and recommendations.
- Interact with Swiss authorities and regulators.
- Provide accurate and timely legal advice in relation to any other legal matters, including corporate governance.
- LLM and bar admission in Switzerland required
- Savvy in hedge fund administration and regulatory framework and matters
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in a top tier international law firm or in a prestigious financial institution
- First class academic track record and excellent law firm credentials
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and execution skills to tackle difficult, complex legal and regulatory issues in the context of the business perspective and to express complex matters clearly to business audience, including to management team and authorities
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in German and English
- Detail oriented with a focus on a high level of accuracy in written/oral work
- Must be objective, precise, collaborative, self-motivated and able to work independently
- Radically open-minded to stay on the safe side when it comes to interpretations of legal and regulatory provisions.
