Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cryo-EM Business Development Manager to join our team, to be based in Europe.

About the role:

You will be responsible for developing sales for the company within the defined UK/EEA Cryo-EM market. This area of structural biology represents a dynamic and fast-growing field which requires a focused strategy to achieve the company’s goal of supplying high quality products to this area of research. The position will participate in the development and delivery of a targeted, UK/EEA sales and marketing strategy from which SPT Labtech will achieve its goals.

The role will require significant travel over all of Europe, though occasional travel to the US and Asia may also be required. Our ideal candidate will be based near a convenient travel hub in Switzerland or Germany.

You will be responsible for:

  • Engaging with new and established labs within the cryo-EM space to provide technical and commercial guidance as well as develop new opportunities for SPT Labtech products in the broader structural biology market.
  • Working closely with existing users to ensure high levels of satisfaction and feedback on future needs and developments.
  • Managing all sales-related facets of strategic alignment, relationship management, sales process and engagement.
  • Serving as an escalation point for critical needs, prioritization, and decision making.
  • Working closely with the business, the Global Product Managers, and Customer Support to ensure best in class service for the client.
  • Attending and presenting at both scientific and internal meetings with other teams/departments as necessary, to perform duties and aid business development.
  • Development of market requirements and sales plans; establishing both market and target customer strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate SFDC/CRM process to enable preparation of regular forecasts and reports to the commercial organization.
  • Driving contract compliance; generating and negotiating new agreements and updates to existing contracts with input from commercial leadership.

This position will have top line and growth objectives to support SPT Labtech sales goals. The position will also serve to advise Senior Management on developments within the marketplace, competitive intelligence, emerging trends impacting clients and innovation/strategy development as we bring new solutions to market.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate qualification in a Biology/Chemistry/Physics related subject, A PhD qualification in a field relevant to Structural Biology is strongly preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Significant Cryo-EM domain knowledge and a keen awareness of current trends in the field.
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience of Cryo-EM sample preparation and structure determination;
  • A good grounding in commercial and business principles. Specific experience in a sales-related role would be a distinct advantage;
  • A consultative communication approach with the ability to collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within Europe.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer-facing skills;
  • Fluent in German and English.
