Monte Rosa Therapeutics is a biotechnology company developing molecular glues to degrade disease-causing proteins. The company has developed a platform to rationally design small molecules that reprogram ubiquitin ligases to eliminate disease drivers previously deemed undruggable. Monte Rosa was launched from founding investor Versant Ventures’ Ridgeline Discovery Engine based in the Technologie park Basel.

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is searching for a motivated Lab Services Technician /Laboratory Manager to provide technical and organizational support to the members of the biology and proteomics research laboratory in our site in Basel.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in general laboratory management, setting up and relocating laboratories, and maintaining an adequate inventory of biochemical research reagents, and laboratory equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Support the members of the research laboratory focusing on organizational duties:

  • Organize and maintain laboratory supplies: disposable and reusable glassware and plasticware, BSL1 and BSL2 consumables, biochemical reagents, media and buffer stocks, compounds libraries, lab coats, and miscellaneous materials.
  • Responsible for overseeing purchasing of all common reagents, gases, chemicals, and equipment needed for general lab use, reception of parcels and disposal of cardboard/polystyrene packages.
  • Ensure updating of inventories for cells, reagents, and chemicals
  • Handle and follow international shipments of chemical and biological compounds.
  • Monitoring of laboratory equipment: small devices, pipettes, centrifuges, laminar flow, temperature-controlled equipment such as fridges, incubators, and nitrogen tank (including CO2 and N2 supplies). Administration of annual maintenance contracts.
  • Setting up and relocation of laboratories.
  • General laboratory management in BSL1 and BSL2 environments (autoclaving and disposal of biohazardous material, decontamination of working areas, lab coats etc..) following all PPE requirements and safety regulations.
  • Oversee and assist in general repairs, maintenance and upkeep of facility, work with landlord as it applies to core infrastructure and services.
  • Invoicing liaison with the administrative/accounting assistant.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors and service providers



Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent education in biological science or related fields.
  • gt;2 years working experience in laboratory environment required.
  • Experience in lab management desirable.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite tools and/or inventory/database programs required
  • Collaborative, task-flexible, and team-player
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with scientific equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German, both oral and written.
