Job Description

Monte Rosa Therapeutics seeks to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Principal Scientist / Group Leader to join its growing Drug Discovery and Translational biology team. The successful candidate will support research and development as well as translational activities and will contribute to the further development of our growing portfolio of innovative programs. The candidate will be a highly creative biologist with a strong desire to succeed at the highest level. She/he will lead drug discovery projects in a team environment and direct the activities of research associates under his/her supervision.

The successful candidate will have completed a PhD and post-doctoral studies in Cancer Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology or related disciplines. S/he will have outstanding biochemical, molecular, cellular skills and be able to develop and support novel assays development, in depth compound profiling and translational studies. Besides technical expertise, we are looking for a strong team player passionate to apply his/her skills to accelerate the development of innovative therapeutic avenues for cancer and other major indications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Co-lead interdisciplinary project teams and work with a team of scientists to support biology of the target, the selection of lead candidate molecules and transition into clinical development.

Independently coordinate both internal and external (CRO) activities to optimize compound selection and explore the full therapeutic potential of drug targets.

Design and develop in vitro and in vivo assays to define mechanism of action for compounds, identify pharmacodynamic assays for utility in pre-clinical and clinical setting and test patient selection strategies.

Interface with external KOLs for input on disease hypothesis, translational models, clinical and regulatory landscape.

Management of multiple direct and/or indirect reports.

Play a leading role in the Drug Discovery and Translational group by sharing ideas, data, and working closely with colleagues to ensure success of entire portfolio.

Assist in the management of program budget and deliverables.

Interpret, present and report research findings at internal meeting an external scientific conferences.


Requirements


Doctoral degree in cell/molecular biology, Cancer Biology, genetics or equivalent with gt;3 years industrial experience or MS with 10+ years of experience.

A strong background in Drug Discovery, with a track record of successfully advancing early target and late stage programs in an industry setting.

Ability to manage multiple direct reports and/or manage project teams.

Publications in top tier journals. Experience with technical report writing including patents.

Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills.

Strong time management skills and focus to drive toward key decision points on target programs.

Able to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines but with the capacity to work independently.

Ability to think creatively and critically to make a measurable impact on projects is an important aspect of this role.
