Job Description

We are on a mission to make science open so everyone can live healthy lives on a healthy planet.

Who we are

Frontiers is an award-winning open science platform and leading open access scholarly publisher.

We are one of the largest and most cited publishers globally. To date, our 200,000 freely available research articles have received more than one billion views and downloads and two million citations.

Our journals span science, health, humanities and social sciences, engineering, and sustainability. And we continue to expand into new academic disciplines so more researchers can publish open access.

Be part of the publishing revolution and help us transform the way research is published, evaluated, and communicated to the world.

The role

Located in Switzerland and reporting to the People Operations Manager, we are seeking a People Assistant who is enthusiastic, solution-orientated and applies a people-focused lens to everything they do!

This is a fantastic opportunity that would suit an individual who is early in their HR career and looking to broaden their knowledge across a range of HR activities. Your role is to act as the liaison between HR, line managers and employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of all administrative queries. This role will support our employees across different countries.

We are a fast growing global company, so we are looking for someone who can be hands on and happy to adapt to the changing needs of the business (no day is the same here at Frontiers!).

Our HR department is expanding rapidly, to support the growing needs of our people and business. We have an exciting mix of nationalities, experiences and skills which makes for a very dynamic and collaborative team. This is an additional new position for our business, so will allow the successful candidate to put their own stamp on it!

Key responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for our employees, responding to questions from employees and managers on HR guidelines, processes and systems, in a manner which promotes a positive experience, and escalating issues when necessary to the relevant People Business Partner.
  • Facilitating HR administration for all stages of the employee lifecycle - which includes preparing letters and contracts, updating our people system and maintaining relevant trackers.
  • Conducting People system reporting and data analysis to support the team’s data driven approach.
  • Supporting with the onboarding of new starters.
  • Supporting the People Operations Team with project work.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

Who are we looking for?

  • A first experience within a HR department in Switzerland. An experience supporting other countries would be desirable but is not mandatory.
  • Swiss HR assistant certificate would be an advantage.
  • A curious individual with a 'people focused' approach and the ability to provide advice based on solid research.
  • Able to work autonomously but not afraid to ask questions and request support when required.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Competence with MS Office applications.
  • Experience with Workday, Sharepoint or other HR systems would be a plus.
  • Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • A team player who is able to collaborate across the wider business.
  • Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Fluent in English and French. Any other language would be an advantage.
