About the Distributed Experience Team

At Smallpdf, we work in Pods, which are autonomous and cross-functional teams within the company.

You would be working as the Pod Lead in the Distributed Experience team. We build and maintain a native Windows application, 3rd party integrations and browser extensions.


What you will do:
  • Mentor, coach and enable growth for the Engineers in your team
  • Support technical decision making both within your team and across Engineering
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management to set product requirements and provide high-level estimates
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to build and maintain our native Desktop applications, 3rd party integrations and browser extensions
  • Drive adoption and improvement of various KPIs and OKRs both for your team and for Engineering in general
  • Organize and guide your team with effective use of Agile development methodologies

Responsibilities:
  • Enable your team to deliver a high quality product serving our users needs
  • Management responsibility for the engineers in your team (3-5 engineers)
  • Technical decision making accountability, oversight and delegation
  • Collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers and stakeholders
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to grow our engineering team


Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of working as a Software Engineer
  • 3+ years management experience, preferably leading an Engineering team
  • Demonstrable ability to own a project and take it from start to finish
  • Experience building and maintaining one or more of the following:
    • Desktop applications
    • Web applications
    • Browser extensions
  • Fluent English
  • Based in Zurich or willing to relocate (this is an on-site role)
  • Swiss or EU passport holder (or other permits that allow you to work in Switzerland)
Nice to have:
  • Experience scaling (micro-) web services to millions of users
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
  • Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines
  • Expertise with Scrum or other Agile methodologies
  • Experience with the specific technologies in our stack

  • Desktop: C#, .NET, WPF
  • Web Frontend: JS, React, Typescript
  • Backend: Golang
  • Infra: AWS, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Github
  • Data: Redshift, DBT, Metabase
